Over 500,000 Units Sold in 2014!

Units sold in 20142014 turned out to be a great year for the GMC brand. The Sierra had its best sales year since 2005! The Yukon followed with its best sales year since 2007 selling over 71,000 units. The Terrain had its best sales year ever and the Acadia won Edmunds.com’s Most Popular Large Crossover SUV of 2014. Finally the Canyon won Autoweek Magazine’s Best of the Best Truck for 2015!

The ultra-plush Denali lineup also saw sales gains in 2014. More than 21% of GMC sales to individual customers were vehicles from the Denali lineup. More than half of the year’s Yukon retail sales were Denalis and 35% of Sierra HD sales were Denalis. As you can see, the Denali lineup adds a little something extra to GMC’s already impressive lineup.

As you can see, GMC offers a pretty impressive lineup of trucks, CUVs, and SUVs. The brand hopes to continue the positive momentum into 2015! “In 2014 we had the freshest portfolio of GMC products on our lots including a full range of pickups, with the all-new Canyon. The new Yukon lineup has also driven high consumer interest to our store with its bold styling, especially the Yukon Denali,” said Chief Operating Officer at Motor City Buick GMC, John Pitre.

Autoweek Names GMC Canyon Best of the Best Truck

Best of the Best Truck
2015 GMC Canyon

It’s been a busy year in the world of trucks, as evidenced by the reintroduction of GM’s midsize pickup twins, the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. Both trucks have been praised by experts across the industry for their quality, refinement, style, and practicality, and now the GMC Canyon is finishing off a successful year by winning a much-sought-after award—Autoweek’s Best of the Best Truck award.

Editors at Autoweek praised the Canyon for its amenities, modernity, style, and more. In fact, they commented that the truck is “brimming with a near-luxury experience”—something we at Ewing Buick GMC agree with 100%. The Canyon beat out seven other finalists to be named the victor—each finalist underwent a vigorous three-day test session at Michigan International Speedway which analyzed its performance, quality, design, significance, and value.

“Of the hundreds of vehicles Autoweek tests each year, only a relative few truly stand out from the rest,” said Autoweek editor Wes Raynal. “The GMC Canyon is not only one of the best new vehicles on the market, it’s one of the most important, signaling an exciting return to the mid-sized truck segment.”

If you want to experience an outstanding pickup truck firsthand, swing by Ewing Buick GMC today to test drive the Canyon. We bet you won’t be disappointed!

GMC Plans Future Jeep Wrangler Rival

Jeep Wrangler RivalOver the past decade, many carmakers have tried to create a vehicle that can go head-to-head with the popular Jeep Wrangler, and their attempt have been without success. SUVs like the Toyota FJ Cruiser and the entire Hummer lineup have been left behind for the Wrangler’s rugged appearance, causing the SUV to have somewhat of a cult following. Now, GMC has decided to give creating a Jeep Wrangler rival a try. Already known for its rugged SUVs, the American carmaker is the one challenger that just might succeed.

During a recent discussion with Edmunds.com, Buick-GMC vice president Duncan Aldred commented that, while plans for a lineup expansion aren’t currently in the works, in the future they definitely will expand because “there is plenty of room everywhere in the hierarchy.”

Along with the possible Jeep Wrangler rival, this means a luxury SUV, positioned over the Yukon Denali, might be in works as well.

New GMC Pickup Boasts Perfect Body

The rest of the midsize truck market must simply be crushed. Not only does the new GMC pickup, the Canyon, boast some of the best fuel efficiency numbers on the market while remaining extremely powerful and capable, the truck can also boast about its perfect body as well. It’s like that hot guy from high school who was also smart and sensitive. Everyone hated that guy.

There’s no reason to hate the new Canyon, though, which comes with a body that was put together with laser precision. No, literally—a laser scanner was used to make sure everything fit together well. “We’re working with an entirely new vehicle architecture as well as the latest technology available for dimensional management,” said Bryan Vickery, dimensional engineer for Body Maintenance at Wentzville. “The process is a big part of delivering improved body structures, which translates to great vehicles to our customers.”

The Future of Buick and GMC Is Bright

This year has been very good to both the Buick and GMC brands. In a recent interview on Autoline This Week, Vice President of Buick-GMC Sales, Duncan Aldred, spoke about the future of Buick and GMC.

Aldred shared his excitement about Buick’s recent marketing success with its series of ads that show how the brand is rising above people’s misconceptions. He commented that these ads are changing perceptions of the brand and that is turning into real sales. He goes on to describe the Buick brand as inclusive and designed for those who feel successful and confident.

As for the future of Buick, Aldred said he does not want to expand the lineup too quickly and is comfortable with the current five-model lineup. With a smaller selection, it allows customers to get to know each model and find the one that is right for them.

For the GMC side, Aldred said they expect to sell about 500,000 GMC vehicles in the US this year, and will launch a new ad campaign next year that will help “position it very much as a premium brand.”

GMC Pickup Sales Help Brand Reach Best October Sales Since 2007

After sales were counted and numbers were crunched, GMC’s retail sales for October showed a 6 percent increase over last year during the same period, making this the best October sales recorded since 2007. GMC pickup sales were a key player in that success.

Sales of GMC’s full-size Sierra totaled 18,564 units, which was an increase of 12 percent over October 2013 sales for the model. Meanwhile, the Sierra HD models continue to gain traction among customers looking for a truck that can handle heavier lifting without sacrificing comfort and style. HD models now account for 27 percent of Sierra models sold.

Of course, the GMC truck lineup recently added the all-new Canyon. The mid-size truck just completed its first full month of sales, and the assembly plant in Wentzville, Missouri is working hard to keep meeting customer demand.

“Given the unrivaled breadth of our pickup portfolio, it isn’t surprising to see GMC pickups gained popularity last month,” said Duncan Aldred, GMC’s U.S. vice president. “From Canyon to Sierra HD, along with the distinctive Denali and All-Terrain model lines, we’re able to offer customers a pickup that’s tailored to their needs.”

2014-2015 GMC Yukon Helps Fuel GM’s 3rd Quarter Profit

For the first time since the recession, SUVs are regaining some of the momentum it lost to its crossover brethren and finding newfound popularity in the car market. If you’re talking about a resurgence in the full-size SUV segment, you must first look at the offerings of General Motors, whose 2015 model year lineup includes new and improved iterations of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and the Cadillac Escalade.

GM announced that it pulled in a third-quarter net income of $1.4 billion, thanks in large part to the success of its SUVs and pickup trucks.

“The new trucks and SUVs are more profitable than the ones they replaced. That certainly helps from a profit perspective,” said GM Chief Financial Officer Chuck Stevens.

The 2014-2015 GMC Yukon has been a big part of GM’s success through the first nine months of 2014: to date, GMC has delivered 52,612 models between the Yukon and the Yukon XL. This amounts to a year-to-date increase of 62.3% in the United States.

The 2015 Sierra Denali Luxury Redefines Pickups

Sierra Denali Luxury
2015 GMC Sierra Denali

Never before have drivers seen luxury and power successfully integrated into a full-sized pickup—until now. The all-new 2015 Sierra Denali is the first of its kind, turning heads as it hits the markets. Here at Ewing Buick GMC, our jaws nearly hit the floor when we saw the new pickup.

According to GM, the 2015 Sierra Denali luxury is what really sets the pickup apart. Engineers have come up with a way to incorporate a high standard of comfort, a smooth ride, and innovative technology without sacrificing rugged capability.

The interior features Nuance leather-appointed seating, a heated steering wheel, and Bose audio system among other things. The Denali cabin is specially designed to remain quiet, with triple door seals and shear body mounts to reduce vibrations. An aerodynamic exterior also reduces wind-noise. The Denali also has IntelliLink, a color touch screen and MyMedia content.

Have no fear; the new model doesn’t sacrifice power. A 5.3-liter EcoTec V-8 generates an incredible 355 horsepower, and when paired with Duralife brakes and magnetic ride control, it’s nothing short of incredible.

GMC Sierra Elevation Edition Features and Look Get Bold

This special edition Sierra will arrive at Ewing Buick GMC later this year and offers a distinctive look with premium features.

“Much in the same way the Sierra Denali and Sierra HD Denali models raised the standard for premium pickup trucks, the Sierra Elevation Edition will surprise and excite customers shopping for a sport pickup,” said Duncan Aldred, US vice president of Buick and GMC, in a press release. “With its striking looks, sophisticated connectivity features and legendary capability, the Elevation Edition raises the standard of what a sport pickup truck can be.”

The Elevation Edition will give you a body-colored grille surround, color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side molding, and front and rear bumpers for a monochromatic look. While the official pictures show the truck in black, it will be available in other colors.
