Life can be hectic, especially when you’re driving the family around and running errands. In order to prevent unnecessary injury or death, GMC has developed the innovative Rear Seat Reminder system. Using a series of sensors and warnings, this system can prevent you from leaving a child unattended in the back seat.
Believe it or not, about half of the children under 14 who die of heatstroke in a vehicle are forgotten, according to GMC. The Rear Seat Reminder works to prevent this by activating whenever a rear door is open and closed within 10 minutes before the vehicle is started (or while the vehicle is running). The next time the car is turned off, you get a warning to check the rear seat.
“General Motors has developed a new technology for the GMC Acadia, the Rear Seat Reminder, to give busy parents an important reminder to check the back seat before leaving the car,” said Kate Carr, president and CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide. “We must always remember that the safest way to protect a child from heatstroke is to never leave a child unattended in a vehicle.”
This feature can’t detect every item or individual in the back seat—it’s simply meant to prevent some incidents. That’s why it’s still important to always check the back seat, especially if you have small children.

Now is the perfect time to visit the Path to the Presidency exhibit at the George W. Bush Presidential Center. You can experience what the candidates see as part of this special exhibit on the history of campaigns and elections. This great new installation is just one of many fun and educational things to do in Dallas.
According to the Dallas Culture Map, the event started back in early August, but it goes until October 9. Its open every day at 9:00am, except for Sundays when it’s open at 12:00pm. You can deliver a speech from a podium using a teleprompter to see how difficult it really is, you can pose for a campaign ad, and watch clips of historical political ads. You can also learn about famous elections and losses, as well as the influence of technology and cultural changes on elections.
This is a great way to put things into perspective for this upcoming election. By understanding the history of elections in the US, you can learn the context for today’s politics. There are also displays on campaign and election memorabilia, documents, photos, artifacts, and more.
Want to make a day of your visit to the Path to the Presidency exhibit? Stop by the Old Chicago restaurant, the People’s Last Stand, and Trinity Hall. The Angelika Film Center and Café are located nearby, as well as the Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub.

The zoo can be one of the most magical places to visit around. And, here in the Dallas area, we have one of the best zoos in the country. Recently, visitors got to experience new elephants at the Dallas Zoo, and they were really excited! In March of this year, the Dallas Zoo brought five elephants from a drought-stricken zoo in Swaziland. Since then, the new elephants have been getting slowly acquainted with the Golden Girls, the Dallas Zoo’s resident matriarch elephants. The five new elephants, named Zola, Tendaji, Mlilo, Amahle, and Nolwazi have been doing well adjusting to their new home and have started gaining weight. Elephants are incredibly social animals and just like humans, they have to work out their relationships with each other. The zoo says they have been communicating with trumpeting, ear flapping, vocalizations, and a lot of trunk-touching. “It’s a wonderful sight to behold,” the zoo said. “Over the next few months, look in the Savanna and you may catch these amazing moments.” Have you visited the new elephants at the Dallas Zoo yet? What is your favorite animal exhibit at the Dallas Zoo? Tell all of us at Ewing Buick GMC near Dallas, TX in the comments below!

This train is great for all ages, easing along at a comfortable 3 to 4 mph in a one-mile loop around the mark. The entire monorail covers roughly the back 106 acres of the park, making it easy to see animals like chimpanzees, crocodiles, penguins, the ibex, and more.

Forever paving the way with new, innovative models, new reports say that Buick will continue to evolve their brand by putting out four, stunning new models in the near future, likely aimed at a younger audience of drivers.
Right now, Buick is launching their new Cascada midsize convertible, all the while working on the advertising message for the Envision midsize crossover, which you can expect to see at dealerships this summer.
Plus, a redesigned full-size LaCrosse sedan will be revealed around that time, followed up by the next Buick Encore in the fall. With each of these, drivers will find an entirely new, stylish tone from the brand.
Recently reported Buick sales indicate that the brand’s new plans are going well so far this year, with a 20 percent increase over the first two months of 2016 alone. We think it’s safe to say that this trend will continue.
