New GMC Pickup Boasts Perfect Body

The rest of the midsize truck market must simply be crushed. Not only does the new GMC pickup, the Canyon, boast some of the best fuel efficiency numbers on the market while remaining extremely powerful and capable, the truck can also boast about its perfect body as well. It’s like that hot guy from high school who was also smart and sensitive. Everyone hated that guy.

There’s no reason to hate the new Canyon, though, which comes with a body that was put together with laser precision. No, literally—a laser scanner was used to make sure everything fit together well. “We’re working with an entirely new vehicle architecture as well as the latest technology available for dimensional management,” said Bryan Vickery, dimensional engineer for Body Maintenance at Wentzville. “The process is a big part of delivering improved body structures, which translates to great vehicles to our customers.”

The 2015 Sierra Denali Luxury Redefines Pickups

Sierra Denali Luxury

Never before have drivers seen luxury and power successfully integrated into a full-sized pickup—until now. The all-new 2015 Sierra Denali is the first of its kind, turning heads as it hits the markets. Here at Ewing Buick GMC, our jaws nearly hit the floor when we saw the new pickup.

According to GM, the 2015 Sierra Denali luxury is what really sets the pickup apart. Engineers have come up with a way to incorporate a high standard of comfort, a smooth ride, and innovative technology without sacrificing rugged capability.

The interior features Nuance leather-appointed seating, a heated steering wheel, and Bose audio system among other things. The Denali cabin is specially designed to remain quiet, with triple door seals and shear body mounts to reduce vibrations. An aerodynamic exterior also reduces wind-noise. The Denali also has IntelliLink, a color touch screen and MyMedia content.

Have no fear; the new model doesn’t sacrifice power. A 5.3-liter EcoTec V-8 generates an incredible 355 horsepower, and when paired with Duralife brakes and magnetic ride control, it’s nothing short of incredible.

GMC Canyon Delivers on Fuel Economy and Power

How would you like a truck with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, a six speed automatic transmission, 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque–all while getting 21 miles per gallon? That kind of combination of fuel economy and power seems impossible, but with according to the report from the EPA, that’s exactly what the 2015 GMC Canyon has.

The GMC Canyon tested for 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Combined, these figures lead to the 21 mpg rating overall. Only one other GM vehicle, the Chevy Colorado, matches these figures. No other small pickup truck gets that kind of fuel economy.

And, in our opinion, no other truck matches the Canyon for it features. The quiet interior has a power driver seat and can house an 8-inch infotainment touch screen. Plus, the Canon keeps you safe with forward collision alert and lane departure warning.

Bigger Isn’t Always Better: 2015 GMC Canyon Offers Versatility

Say hello to the GMC Canyon; the GMC Sierra’s little brother. With the introduction of the GMC Canyon, the automaker challenges the definition of “pickup truck”. In the world of pickups, we tend to assume that it’s got to be a big, gas-guzzling beast in order to be awesome. We happen to think there’s a place for a smaller, more efficient pickup, and it’s equally awesome.

The 2015 GMC Canyon can do things and go places that a Sierra 2500 could never do or go. The Canyon has a turning radius of just 41 feet, while electronic power steering provides easy maneuverability in situations where big trucks would struggle. Take that, Sierra 3500. The short-bed crew cab is just 212.7 inches long, ideal for people who regularly park in tight spots, parking garages or have a small garage.

EPA highway estimates are impressive; 22 mpg for 4×4 versions, and 24 mpg for 2WD models. Sierras equipped with the 4.3L V-6 will boast the highest available towing rating of 7,200 pounds, making it the most capable V-6 truck available.

“With its smaller size and associated nimble nature, Canyon provides pickup capability and exceptional comfort in an efficient and more manageable package,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing in a news release. “An increasing number of customers don’t need the full capability of a full-size pickup, yet desire the functionality a pickup offers. These customers appreciate the smaller size of mid-sized pickups, with their ability to easily fit in a garage, travel downtown areas of big cities, and navigate crowded parking lots. The all-new 2015 GMC Canyon represents the best of both worlds in this sense.”

Recently, new protocols were put into play industry-wide to test the maximum tow capacity in real-world driving conditions. The tests were aimed to keep the playing field consistent among all auto manufacturers and to give consumers a clear definition of what they can really expect from their truck. Many manufacturers saw their tow capacity decrease while implementing SAE J2807. The Sierra 1500, however, did not see a decrease after implementation of the new tests. The 2WD double cab Sierra equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 engine maintains its 12,000-lb. max trailering configuration.

How was the Sierra able to keep its rating, while other trucks fell? The Sierra 1500 is equipped with the most powerful engine in its segment. It makes an outstanding 420-horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It is also available with a 9.76-inch rear axle and heavy-duty rear springs to help with hauling.

As you can see, the 2014 Sierra 1500 is ready to work! With other features like a CornerStep bumper and a center console big enough for work files, the Sierra 1500 can be the perfect mobile office. If you would like to know more about the 2014 Sierra, stop by Ewing Buick GMC!
