Warmer Weather Approaches: Car Cooling Tricks to Avoid the Heat

Car Cooling Tricks
Spring Maintenance

Spring is finally here, and while for many, that means the joy of the winter months melting away, others are concerned about the dreaded car heat. You know, that horrible wave of hot air that hits you when you return to your parked car? To prevent this summer staple, just in time for the warm weather to roll around, all of us at Ewing Buick GMC have put together a list of car cooling tricks:

  • Park in the shade if there are any covered spots available.
  • Manufacture some shade for yourself, with a blanket or a sun shade, up against the windshield.
  • Once you’re back in the car – make sure you’ve got you’re A/C set to fresh air as opposed to recirculation, which would take much longer to cool down.
  • Take your car in for a routine check-up to make sure everything is working properly, particularly the vents and air conditioning.
  • Have an emergency supply of water in the car to keep you hydrated, which also helps to bring down body temperature.

Buick Once Again a Top Sponsor of March Madness

Sponsor of March Madness
Buick Teams Up with March Madness

For five years running, Buick will be a top sponsor of March Madness. In 2015, a lot of the fun is returning from Buick’s sponsorship of the tournament last year. For instance, the Boss Button is back. When you watch games on the NCAA website, the Boss Button helps you make anyone who might be displeased with your viewing believe that you are working on “spreadsheets.” Just click the button, squint your eyes, stare thoughtfully at the screen and start typing madly.  It’s that easy!

There are also new additions. Buick’s trick shot competition features 16 competitors and allows viewers to pick their favorite much like they would for the March Madness tournament. Although we assume no one doubts that Titus, the three year-old trick shot internet phenomenon, will take the cake.

Molly Peck, Buick’s Director of Marketing and Advertising, recent explained to brand channelwhy Buick likes working with the NCAA for March Madness. “This audience isn’t just basketball-crazy fans but also those who are excited by the tournament play itself, and by the participation of their schools.” Buick taps into that protracted excitement and creates a lot of interaction.

Speaking of interaction, vote for your favorite trick shot expert here, or at Ewing Buick GMC in Plano, TX.

Those issues are used to calculate the problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The vehicles with the lowest number of problems reported rank highest on the list.

Buick’s ranking is a testament to the fact that [we’re] on the leading edge of reliability, quality and customer service,” said Buick’s vice president, Duncan Aldred. “More and more customers are visiting the Buick showroom because we put these values at the core of every model we bring to the market.”

In Top Ten Buick Consumer Reports

Buick Consumer Reports
Buick Regal On Another Level

Buick can hang its hat on being a top ten Consumer Reports auto brand, according to the neutral testing company.

The Consumer Reports evaluation involved road testing every vehicle of each brand factoring in safety and reliability, and compiling a comprehensive list of all 28 automakers.

Buick scored the highest of all U.S. brands and ranked number seven overall thanks to their restored image and more aggressive styling. “Buick has a reputation for large, cushy cars, and they’ve really reinvented themselves pretty quickly,” says Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing at Consumer Reports. Their revamped image vaults the Buick brand past Honda, Acura, and BMW.

This is a huge transcendence from vanilla slow-lane comfort cruiser, to feature-packed luxury thriller.

In a separate “top picks” category of the Consumer Reports, Buick Regal topped the sports sedan segment by de-throning the BMW 328i, which had reigned supreme the last two years.

Overall, Buick earned the highest percentage of Consumer Reports recommended models of any of the competition. So be sure to come to Ewing Buick GMC, and see our top-rated Buick lineup. Discover the Buick Consumer Reports for yourself.

Buick Driving Dynamics Technology: Giving Drives a Leg Up During the Winter

Buick Keeps You Safe & In Control

Driving in bad weather can drastically increase the danger of being on the road. That’s why Buick has developed some innovative new features to help you stay safe during the winter months.

Buick driving dynamics technology consists of several systems like All-wheel drive (AWD) and StabiliTrak. The AWD system is different than 4Wd because it individually monitors each wheel and sends power where it’s needed with precise timing. According to Buick, this is available on the new Regal, LaCrosse, Encore, and Enclave, giving drivers excellent traction for bad winter conditions.

Aside from AWD, the StabiliTrak system also gives Buick owners a leg up. Electronic stability control recognizes when a car understeers or oversteers and can compensate for the slippage. In extreme situations, the system can even apply brakes when needed.

These two systems are the best in driving dynamics, ensuring you stay safe on the road. Buick also has some innovative features to keep you comfortable during the winter season, such as IntelliLink (available with 4G LTE Wi-Fi) and even heated steering wheels. These new systems highlight the luxury that comes standard with every Buick at Ewing Buick GMC in Plano, TX.

Buick Cost to Own: Saving You More Money in the Long Run

Buick Cost to Own
Buick: the Symbol of Luxury

If you’re looking for luxury design without the cost, Buick may be the way to go. Three Buicks were recently given the 5-Year Cost to Own award from Kelly Blue Book (KBB). This award measures the cost of your car over several years, not just the initial price tag, which means that Buick’s are definitely more affordable in the long run than other models.

According to Buick, the awards are based on the lowest projected depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance/insurance fees, maintenance/repair costs, and state registration fees. The three winners were the Verano, Encore, and Enclave, all of which were in luxury car categories. That means if you’re looking for a little extra sophistication, Buick is ideal.

Based on the typical difference of cost from other cars, the Enclave saves people the most money in the long run. On average, people save about $17,500 over five years with the Enclave compared to similar models. People who buy the Encore save about $14,000, and Verano owners save over $9,000. Over five years, you’ll have saved almost enough for a new car.

Buick cost to own is just one more reason to consider this automaker above the rest. Not only does Buick offer luxury, performance, and comfort, but it’s also easier on the wallet than you might think. You can experience these savings for yourself at Ewing Buick GMC in Plano, TX today, and never look back again.

Buick Encore Production Raised by 50 Percent

The Buick Encore Takes the Scenic Route

The crossover segment is one of the fastest-rising in the country, and thanks to the Encore, Buick is right at the top of it.

The compact CUV sold 48,992 units in 2014 and that number isn’t showing any signs of going down—rather the opposite. When it came out in 2013, analysts had predicted about 18,500 U.S. sales of the Encore for that year, and 25,000 in 2015.

The Encore exceeded all expectations by a huge margin with just over 31,000 sales in 2013 and nearly 49,000 in 2014, up more than 50 percent. It’s already become our third-best-selling vehicle at Ewing Buick GMC, and could very well reach the top of the selling charts this year at the rate it’s going.

In fact, Buick Encore production will be upped by an additional 50 percent for the U.S. market, so it seems we’re not the only ones anticipating an encore of last year’s explosive performance!

Rumors of New GMC Off-Road SUV Continue

New GMC Off-Road SUV
GMC May Offer Another SUV Other Than the Acadia

The rumors that GMC is considering an all-new off-roading SUV to rival the Jeep Wrangler are getting stronger day by day. Earlier this month, the Wall Street Journal backed up the speculation, saying this theoretical vehicle is definitely still on GMC’s radar.

The new GMC off-road SUV might be totally separate from other GMC lines, with an entire new model name, if it’s the car that GMC’s product chief mentioned in 2014, adding that the new creation might take some construction lessons from the Hummer.

Similar sources claim that GMC executives are actually chatting with some dealerships about the possibility of the new model, gaining some insight as to whether or not it would be successful with consumers. Surely, a bold, off-road SUV would add to GMC’s rugged image.

Little else is known about this possible project, though many are taking to the web to add their own thoughts to the matter. Would you be interested in a GMC off-road SUV? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
