Thanksgiving isn’t just a day to hang out with family and eat good food—it’s also the beginning of a long holiday weekend and there are tons of special things to do that make it the perfect weekend for family trips and bonding. If you’re in the northeast Texas area, you might want to check out some of these things to do in Dallas and Fort Worth over Thanksgiving weekend.
Thanksgiving in Dallas and Fort Worth is unlike any other time of year. You won’t want to miss the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day—it’s a tradition! This year the Cowboys are playing the Oakland Raiders.
There’s also the annual Turkey Trot held by the Dallas YMCA. It takes place the morning of Thanksgiving Day and features pony rides, games, and music for family and friends, while participants in the race walk or run 8 miles from City Hall.
You also won’t want to miss the Fort Worth Parade of Lights, which takes place the evening of November 29th. Finish up your weekend with visits to Klyde Warren Park, which is right in the middle of Dallas and has tons of games and activities, and the recently redesigned GeO-Deck at Reunion Tower.
