The zoo can be one of the most magical places to visit around. And, here in the Dallas area, we have one of the best zoos in the country. Recently, visitors got to experience new elephants at the Dallas Zoo, and they were really excited! In March of this year, the Dallas Zoo brought five elephants from a drought-stricken zoo in Swaziland. Since then, the new elephants have been getting slowly acquainted with the Golden Girls, the Dallas Zoo’s resident matriarch elephants. The five new elephants, named Zola, Tendaji, Mlilo, Amahle, and Nolwazi have been doing well adjusting to their new home and have started gaining weight. Elephants are incredibly social animals and just like humans, they have to work out their relationships with each other. The zoo says they have been communicating with trumpeting, ear flapping, vocalizations, and a lot of trunk-touching. “It’s a wonderful sight to behold,” the zoo said. “Over the next few months, look in the Savanna and you may catch these amazing moments.” Have you visited the new elephants at the Dallas Zoo yet?
